Zomato has released an update on the 20 lakh vacancy Deepinder Goyal Posted The Information

ZOMATO founder and CEO Deepinder Goyal on Wednesday informed that the company has received more than 18,000 applications for the post of ‘Chief of Staff’. Out of these, 30 candidates have been offered for different posts. He made it clear that “no one has given any money to work with us.”

What was the case of vacancy of 20 lakh rupees?

In November 2024, ZOMATO placed a unique condition for the post of ‘Chief of Staff’, in which the candidates were asked to donate to a non-profit organization called ‘Feeding India’ in the first year. Along with this, ZOMATO also offered to donate Rs 50 lakh to any other organization of the choice of the candidate.

Deepinder Goyal described this role as an opportunity to learn an excellent learning, in which the candidate will get a chance to learn 10 times more than the two -year degree of the top management school “. He also said that people working in this post will work directly with him and the most talented people of customer technology.

There was a lot of controversy about this. Many people criticized this recruitment process and called it “exploitative”. Industrialist Harsh Goenka also condemned this model. However, now Goyal has made it clear that no money has been taken from any candidate to work with Zomato and the company is looking for the right talent.

2 Chief of Staff appointed

Deepinder Goyal said that out of the 30 elected people, 18 were already working in large roles in Zomato or other group companies (eg Blinkit) and are being paid good salary based on their contribution. He also informed that 4 out of 18 people are working directly with him, out of which 2 have been appointed to the post of ‘Chief of Staff’.

Deepinder Goyal said that “Our work is not over yet.” Out of more than 18,000 applications, the best and talented candidates are still being selected. He clarified that this is not just a recruitment, but the process of investing in the right and capable people for a long time.
