Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky spoke on phone with US President Donald Trump. He congratulated Trump on the success of the Gaza Peace Plan. Also said that if one war can be stopped, then the Russia-Ukraine war can also be stopped.
Zelensky posted on Facebook that he briefed Trump on the impact of Russia’s attacks on his energy infrastructure and expressed his appreciation for America’s support. He said that both the countries also discussed agreements to strengthen air defence.
Zelensky said that to resolve the war, it is necessary for Russia to seriously engage in talks and this can be possible only through strictness.
Direct talks between Russia and Ukraine started in June this year. For this a meeting was held in Turkey.
Zelensky said – the effect of sanctions on Russia is visible
Zelensky said that the effect of international sanctions imposed against Russia is visible. He said further restrictions will be imposed.
Ukraine has imposed eight sanctions packages since June this year. Of these, 281 individuals and 633 companies have been targeted.
They are accused of helping Russia in the war. Zelensky said new sanctions are also in the works, including the EU’s 19th package.
Trump has called Russia a paper tiger
Trump met with Zelensky last month. During this time he had described Russia as a paper lion. It was also said that if Russian planes enter the airspace of NATO countries, they should be shot down.
He had said that Russia has been stuck in war for the last three and a half years, but could not achieve victory. According to Trump, if Russia was a real military power, this war should have ended in a week.
Trump has expressed confidence that Ukraine can take back all the occupied territory from Russia.
This year Russia stopped the war for only 3 days
On April 29, Russian President Putin announced a 3-day unilateral ceasefire with Ukraine. This ceasefire came into effect from May 8. Earlier, Russia had announced a one-day ceasefire on April 20 on the occasion of Easter.
This ceasefire was done on the occasion of Russia’s 80th Victory Day. Russia organizes the Victory Day Parade every year on May 8 to celebrate its victory over Nazi Germany in the Second World War.
The Russian Presidential Office Kremlin had said that this ceasefire is being done on humanitarian grounds. It started on the night of 7-8 May and ended at midnight on 10-11 May.

February 2022- As soon as Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the attack, Russian tanks started rolling into Ukraine. The then US President Joe Biden said – There is no plan to talk to Putin. They have put the entire world in danger. Russia will have to pay a serious price for its attack on Ukraine.
February 2025- America’s new President Donald Trump spoke to Putin on the phone for 90 minutes. After this, a high level meeting was held in Saudi Arabia between Russia and America regarding the Ukraine war. Ukraine was not included in this. Trump praised Putin and called Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky a ‘dictator’.
