Sources said, Mumbai Police has received input from Canada that Zeeshan Akhtar has been detained by police officers there. He is accused of plotting to kill Baba Siddiqui, which was held on 12 October 2024 in Bandra, Mumbai last year. Zeeshan was absconding since this incident. The police had been searching for him for a long time. According to the Punjab Police, Zeeshan Akhtar has been associated with the gang of infamous gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. He was also associated with Pune gangster Saurabh Mahakal. Saurabh was questioned by Mumbai Police about the letter sent threatened to Salim Khan, father of Bollywood actor Salman Khan.

During this time, Baba Siddiqui got two bullets in his stomach and a bullet in his chest, due to which he died. After this, Baba Siddiqui (66) was admitted to Lilavati Hospital, where he died. Baba Siddiqui represented the Bandra (West) seat in the assembly thrice. Siddiqui, a prominent Muslim leader from Mumbai, was also known as close to many Bollywood stars.
