Up news: The Uttar Pradesh government has made a major change in Techhom ration (ThR) distribution system to further strengthen the campaign against malnutrition. On the instructions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, from 1 July 2025, all 1.18 crore beneficiaries of the state will get ration only when their face will be verified by the face recognition system (FRS) and the OTP sent on registered mobile will be matched at the Anganwadi center. The objective is clear that the benefits of the scheme reach only those who are true and there should be no scope for fraud.
FRS is identified in two stages. The first takes a live photo of the beneficiary from Anganwadi workers tablet, which is mixed with the based EKYC data. When the match is held, the beneficiary’s mobile goes on a six -digit OTP, which is issued as soon as the food packet is recorded. If the beneficiary does not have a mobile, then the process can be completed with the number of guardian or spouse.
FRS pilot started in August 2024 in Bidhanu and Sarsaul blocks of Kanpur city. The deficiencies were repaired and it was transported to all 75 districts by 1 November 2024. According to the latest government statistics, out of 1.18 crore beneficiaries, about 54 lakh EKYC has been updated by 13 June 2025. Cities like Kanpur, Lucknow and Ghaziabad are in progress more than 45 percent, while districts like Badaun and Bahraich are slow. The Chief Minister has ordered to run a special drive for such districts.
Camp daily at block and panchayat level
All DMs have been asked to set up camps daily at the first block and panchayat level before the deadline of July. The Chief Development Officer will monitor directly. Anganwadi workers are being provided with tablets, portable net and generator, so that EKYC can also be done in remote villages. Promotions will also be sent to social media, All India Radio and Rural Hats.
Under the Techhom Ration Scheme, pregnant and Dhatri mothers are provided nutritious food packets to children from 6 months to 6 years and adolescent girls. Earlier, complaints of raising ration and selling in the market were received by adding fake names. The FRS will now have a digital details of a packet, which will save the government treasury and the real beneficiaries will never be deprived.
The children will get nutrition at the right time
Nutritionists are calling it a game. Social worker Vanshika Ahuja says that the identity is correct, then the children will get nutrition at the right time. This may cause a sharp decline in the rate of anemia and minority. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has clarified that “Malnutrition -free Uttar Pradesh is my top priority. Lapple will not be tolerated in implementing FRS. The government is confident that this transparent system will not only improve nutrition indicators but will also strengthen the public’s trust and this strong UP is the real motive of healthy UP.
