The rebellious attitude of the Supreme Court against Pakistan Army Chief Asim Munir has come to the fore. Two senior judges of Pakistan Supreme Court, Mansoor Ali Shah and Athar Minallah have resigned. The judges said in their resignation letter that giving protection to Munir from legal action and making him Defense Chief is a violation of the Constitution. The judges have opposed the 27th constitutional amendment.

The stance of the Pakistan Supreme Court against the 27th Constitutional Amendment is becoming tough. According to sources, two-three judges may also submit their resignations soon. The Supreme Court believes that by amending the Constitution and granting unlimited powers to the Army Chief, other pillars of democracy have been dwarfed.

There are 16 judges in the Pakistan Supreme Court including the Chief Justice. Whereas 9 posts are still vacant. After the resignation of two judges, only 14 sitting judges are left in the Supreme Court.

Let us inform that the hearing of the case against former ISI Chief Faiz Hameed was completed in the Supreme Court on Thursday. The case of Faiz, who was close to former PM Imran Khan, was heard by the resigned judges Mansoor and Minallah.

After the 27th amendment, Army Chief Munir has now become the Defense Chief of all three armies. No case can be registered against Munir. Many powers of the Supreme Court have been subordinated to the President.

Pakistan blames Afghanistan for suicide attacks

Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has said that both the attackers involved in the two suicide attacks in the country this week were Afghan citizens. He gave this information in Parliament.

The first attack took place on Monday at the Cadet College in South Waziristan near the Afghan border. A vehicle filled with explosives hit the main gate of the college. According to police, two attackers were killed at the gate, but three attackers managed to enter inside.

In the second attack on Wednesday, a suicide bomber blew himself up at the gate of the District Judicial Complex in Islamabad. At least 12 people died and more than 30 were injured.

The Counter Terrorism Department of Rawalpindi city of Punjab said that seven suspects have been arrested in the blast case.

On Tuesday, Pakistan Defense Minister Khawaja Asif said that Pakistan can also take action inside Afghanistan after the recent attacks. He said that the country is in a ‘war situation’.

Asif said, “Those who think that the fight is limited only to the Afghan border and remote areas of Balochistan, they should consider today’s suicide attack on the Islamabad court as a warning.”
