‘We can win anywhere’

Gill may not have experience of playing with a red ball in England, but he is not distracted by the challenge. He said, “Many people say that your team does not have that much experience but the good thing is that we will not have that much burden of expectations because most of the players have not played in England. This will make a difference.”

Gill further said, “The blueprint we have received from our seniors in the last five to ten years is that we can win anywhere. We will try to play with the same confidence.”

He said that his and head coach Gautam Gambhir believes that he should bat at number four after Kohli’s retirement. He said, “After Virat Bhai’s retirement from Test cricket, I and Gautam Gambhir Bhai spoke on it and we both were unanimous that I should land at number four.”

Gill also said that he wants to create an atmosphere of security in the team so that the players can perform their best. Gill also said that during the IPL, he had consulted Virat and Rohit to prepare for the tour of England. He said, “I met both during the IPL and told about their experiences.
