The Central Government has proposed changes in the Civil Nuclear Law in the Lok Sabha. Through this, the government is now preparing to end the government’s monopoly on nuclear energy. If the bill brought to change the existing law is accepted, then in the coming days, private companies and even common people in India can get involved in activities like construction and operation of nuclear plants.
Union Minister of State for Science and Technology Jitendra Singh introduced a bill related to this in the Lok Sabha. It was also passed by the House on Wednesday. Now it will be presented in the Rajya Sabha, where the bill will be discussed. It has been told that by making this bill a law, the government is trying to meet the target of generating a total of 100 GW nuclear energy by 2047.
