Indian women’s cricket team’s star batsman Jemimah Rodrigues has recently made a shocking revelation. He uninstalled his WhatsApp just before the final of World Cup 2025. The reason for this was the thousands of continuous calls and messages, which left him extremely mentally disturbed.
There was commotion after the semi-finals
In the semi-finals, Jemima played a match-winning innings that took India to the finals. As soon as the team returned to the hotel after winning, Jemima’s phone started ringing non-stop. She told, “I don’t know how people got my number. There were about 1000 WhatsApp messages in my phone. The phone was ringing continuously. I was already filled with emotions and had to prepare for the finals.”
In such an environment, distraction was inevitable. The continuous notifications troubled him so much that he decided to delete WhatsApp completely.
Only 4-5 close people could contact
Jemima told that before deleting the app, she informed only her 4-5 closest people that if needed, they could talk through phone or SMS. She was in no condition to read any other message. She said, “Even if I wasn’t reading the messages, just the notification ringing was enough to make me nervous. I knew I had to prepare myself for the finals.”
During this time, Jemima had also distanced herself from social media. He made only one post on social media after winning the semi-final match.
Opened the phone after the finals
After the tournament was over, when Jemima opened social media again, her entire feed was found filled with her name. She laughed and said, “I was scrolling through Instagram and suddenly my video would come up. Someone or the other would be talking about me. I had never seen anything like this before.”
