Wholesale inflation eases to 2.05 pc in cheaper food items – Amar Ujala Hindi News Live

In March, the wholesale price -based inflation was reduced to 2.05 percent. It was 2.38 percent in February. This was confirmed in the government data released on Tuesday. According to the data, India’s wholesale inflation came to a four -month low in March due to a slow rise in food prices. However, there is an increase in the wholesale price index (WPI) based inflation on an annual basis. The wholesale inflation was 0.26 percent in March 2024.

The Ministry of Industry said in a statement, “The positive rate of inflation in March 2025 is mainly due to the increase in prices of food products, other manufacturing, food items, electricity and textile manufacturing etc.”

According to the bulk price index data, the food inflation declined from 3.38 percent of February to 1.57 percent in March. During this period, the prices of vegetables declined drastically. Deflation in vegetables was 15.88 percent this month as compared to 5.80 percent of February.

However, the wholesale inflation of manufactured products increased to 3.07 percent in March, compared to 2.86 percent in February. Fuel and electricity also saw an increase and the inflation rate was 0.20 percent in March, while deflation was 0.71 percent in February.
