The US said about its relations with India that India is its important strategic ally in the Indo-Pacific region. White House Press Secretary Caroline Lewit said this in response to the question of Indian news agency ANI in regular press briefing. He was asked how President Donald Trump sees China’s growing role in Indo-Pacific.
To this, Lewitt said, India is a very important strategy in Indo-Pacific and President Trump has a very close relationship with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and this relationship will continue even further.
This statement of the White House is important in the sense that India’s relations with America have come down somewhat since Operation Sindoor. Especially there is resentment in the Government of India with the credit of repeated ceasefire by President Trump, because PM Modi himself has said that no third country did any mediation at any level in this struggle. At the same time, Trump recently invited Asim Munir, General of the Pakistani Army at the afternoon at the White House. This has also raised questions about the intention of Trump administration in India.
Information on trade agreement with India also
During this time, when the press secretary of the White House Caroline Lewitt was asked whether the trade agreement with India is close and it could happen soon. On this, he said that yes it is true. We are very close to the trade agreement with India. It was also announced by President Trump, the week. Lewitt said that I have just talked to our Commerce Secretary about this. He was in the Oval Office with the President. They are finalizing these agreements, and when it comes to India, you will soon listen to the President and his business team.
Trump announced
Significantly, last week US President Donald Trump had said that he wants to make a big agreement with India. Trump had said that we are moving forward in the direction of the deal with India. Right now doing business there is quite limited. You cannot do business easily there. We want a deal in which all business obstacles are removed. Let us know that the two countries are trying to finalize the agreement before July 9. The US has suspended tariff rates declared on April 2 till July 9.
Final talks on agreement between India and America
Significantly, the final talks are going on between India and the US about this agreement. This conversation is happening at a time when the 90 -day tariff discount period is going to end on 9 July. According to sources, the US wants India to reduce tax on US agriculture and dairy products and open markets for genetically modified (GMO) crops.

It is difficult for India to give fees concessions to America in agriculture sector
But according to sources associated with business talks, it is difficult for India to pay charges to the US in agriculture and milk sector. India has not opened the milk sector in any free trade agreement signed so far. The US wants some industrial goods, motor vehicles, especially electric vehicles, wine, petrolation products, milk and agricultural products and fees on genetically modified crops.
At the same time, India is seeking fee concession from America in labor-dominated areas like textile, gems and jewelery, leather items, apparel, plastic, chemicals, shrimp, oilseeds, grapes and bananas. Regarding this, the Government of India has made it clear that no agreement will be reached with the national interests of India and any agreement will be done only when it will be in the interest of the country and farmers.
