Whatsapp is about to shut down on PC! Learn what is the reason and what will be changes
August 1, 2025 / Technology / By Sam

Whatsapp on pc: If you are using WhatsApp on Windows 11 through Native App, then this news is important for you. META has almost confirmed in its latest beta update that the Native App of WhatsApp on Windows 11 will no longer support. Instead, the company is going to adopt the Whatsapp Web version permanently, which has already been using crores of users.

New interface, new experience

A notification appears in the new beta version of Whatsapp: “Updated how Whatsapp Beta Looks and Works.” That is, whatsapp is now making changes not only in its look but also in its way of working. The new interface will look largely like WhatsApp Web and the company is making many improvements in its backnd so that the apps are faster and the bugs are reduced.

Why was this decision taken?

This move of META is mainly taken to save technical resources. The company does not want to invest much in maintaining the Native Windows App. The web version is easy to maintain and through this new features can also be transported to users fast. However, the purpose of bringing the Native App was to use low RAM and move fast on the system, which is now changing.

Now who will affect?

Users who were using Whatsapp Native App on Windows till now, this change can give a little shock to them. To run a web version, they will now need Chrome, Edge or any other browser, which will also increase the consumption of RAM. However, this experience will not be new for those who are already using Whatsapp Web.

Ads will come soon on WhatsApp

Not only the interface, even a big change is going to come on WhatsApp. Recently, Ads have started appearing between Status Updates in Android beta version 2.25.21.11 of Whatsapp. These ads will appear in the Status section with “sponsored” label, just as it is on Facebook or Instagram. Initially, they are only for select beta users, but soon all users can be seen.
