Google Search Report: The year 2025 was special for Google, because this year the way people searched was not the same as before. Google says that AI has completely changed the search experience and people are now asking questions in new ways than ever before. According to the company, about 15% of the searches done on Google every day are completely new, that is, those which have never been searched by anyone before.
The visual search boom
Visual searches worldwide have increased by 70% year-over-year. India has been the biggest center of this change. Google Lens is used the most by Indians in the world. Users have now started using only pictures to understand, identify or know something.
AI Mode, Search Live and new updates
To make search easier, Google released several major updates in 2025. According to the company, Gemini 3 was included in the search in which the new AI Mode uses advanced reasoning for complex questions.
With the Nano Banana Pro (Gemini 3 Pro Image) feature, users can turn any idea into an image, whether it is a design, infographics or prototype. Virtual Apparel Try On feature launched in India, through which crores of clothes can be tried virtually just on the phone.
What did India search the most in 2025?
India’s search trends were quite diverse this time. In sports, the popularity of both IPL and women’s cricket was at its peak. Also, people showed tremendous interest in the world of AI and Google Gemini became the second fastest trending search of this year.
People also adopted new AI trends like Nano Banana. Apart from this, rising stars like Jomimah Rodriguez and Vaibhav Suryavanshi were included among the trending personalities. The number of questions increased regarding big events like Maha Kumbh. People kept doing important searches like “Earthquake near me” and “AQI near me” again and again.
Trips, Memes and Viral Trends
People in India were attracted towards new destinations like Phu Quoc this year. Saiyaara trend, Labubu, and #67 memes were much discussed on the internet. Also, people expressed their respect towards veteran film star Dharmendra and searched for information related to him in large numbers.
