Smartphone sales increased
Smartphone Market Data: Chinese smartphone company Vivo has maintained its lead in the Indian smartphone market with 18.3 percent share in terms of numbers in the September quarter. On the other hand, Apple has exported maximum 50 lakh iPhones so far in this quarter. Market research firm IDC gave this information in a report on Tuesday. According to International Data Corporation (IDC)’s global quarterly mobile phone monitoring, Apple topped both the premium (priced at Rs 53,000-71,000 per smartphone) and super-premium segments (priced above Rs 71,000 per smartphone).
Vivo achieved top position in Indian smartphone market
With smartphone supplies growing by nearly 21 percent, Vivo led the market with 18.3 percent share. After this, Oppo remained in second place with 13.9 percent. Whereas Samsung had 12.6 percent share, Apple 10.4 percent, Realme 9.8 percent and Xiaomi 9.2 percent. “India’s smartphone market reached a five-year high in the third quarter of 2025,” the report said. During this period, 4.8 crore units were produced with an increase of 4.3 percent on an annual basis. There was a strong growth of 43.3 percent on an annual basis in the premium segment.
Apple iPhone shipments increased
The report said, “In this category, Apple’s iPhone 16, iPhone 15 and iPhone 17 collectively contributed more than 70 percent of the shipments. The super-premium segment recorded the highest growth of 52.9 percent year-on-year, with its share increasing from 6 to 8 percent. Apple again took the lead from Samsung with 66 percent and 31 percent share, respectively. This segment Leading flagship models included the iPhone 16, Galaxy S24 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold 7, iPhone 16 Pro, and Galaxy S25 Ultra.” Apple’s iPhone supplies increased 25.6 percent due to continued demand for both new and existing models.
“iPhone 16 remained the most shipped smartphone in India during Q3, contributing 5 percent of total market shipments, while the newly launched iPhone 17 series and iPhone Air made a record-breaking debut, accounting for 16 percent of Apple’s Q3 shipments. This has been the strongest launch-quarter performance for any iPhone since 2021,” the report said.
