In the ODI series against South Africa, he has scored centuries in both the matches so far. 135 runs in Ranchi and now he has scored a century of 102 runs in Raipur. ‘King Kohli’ has set some new records by scoring the 53rd century of his ODI career. He has also made a world record. Thanks to Virat Kohli’s 102 runs and Rituraj Gaikwad’s century innings of 105 runs, Team India had scored 358 runs in the second ODI.
Most centuries at number 3 in ODI
Virat Kohli has batted at number 3 for most of his ODI career. He has now scored 46 centuries while batting at number 3 in ODI cricket, which is a world record. Before him, the record of scoring most centuries while batting at number three was in the name of India’s Sachin Tendulkar. Tendulkar had scored 45 ODI centuries while batting at number-3.
Highest 50+ score against South Africa
Virat Kohli has played 33 ODI matches against South Africa, in which he has scored 1741 runs in 31 innings. He has become the Indian batsman to score the highest 50+ score against South Africa in ODI. In Raipur, Virat did this for the 15th time in 31 innings when he scored 50 or more runs against South Africa. No Indian batsman before him could do this.
ODI century on 34 different grounds
Raipur is the 34th place where Virat Kohli has scored an ODI century. Virat Kohli has now equaled Sachin Tendulkar in terms of scoring most centuries on different grounds. Sachin Tendulkar also scored centuries at 34 different places in his ODI career.
