Sharif Usman Hadi, who played a major role in the movement against the rule of former Sheikh Hasina of Bangladesh and made sharp statements against India, died in Singapore on Thursday. In critical condition, he was first given treatment in Dhaka, but on 15 December he was referred to Singapore by air ambulance. He died during treatment at Singapore General Hospital. Hadi’s death has been confirmed by the Foreign Ministry of Bangladesh and officials of Singapore.
