Strong answer after the disappointment of Asia Cup
Just a few days ago, Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s day against Pakistan in the final of Under-19 Asia Cup was not special. While chasing a big target, he was out after scoring 26 runs in 10 balls. After this the decline of the Indian team started and the match got lost. In that match, he was also criticized for his heated argument with Pakistani bowler Ali Raza and his irritation on the field, but this century in the Vijay Hazare Trophy proved to be a befitting reply to the same criticism.
Historic century in 36 balls
In the match played in Ranchi, Bihar won the toss and decided to bat first. Vaibhav Suryavanshi adopted an aggressive attitude from the very beginning and attacked the Arunachal Pradesh bowlers fiercely. He completed his century in just 36 balls and was eventually out after playing an explosive innings of 190 runs in 84 balls. During this period, 16 fours and 15 sixes came from his bat. His strike rate was 226.19.
Rain of sixes, equaling another record
In this innings, Vaibhav hit 15 sixes and equaled the record of hitting second most sixes in an innings of Vijay Hazare Trophy. Earlier in 2022, Narayan Jagadishan had also hit 15 sixes against Arunachal Pradesh.
