Vb-g Ram G Bill: After Lok Sabha, Ji Ram Ji Bill was also passed in Rajya Sabha, passed by voice vote amid uproar – Rajya Sabha Passes Viksit Bharat Guarantee For Rozgar And Ajeevika Mission Gramin Vb G Ram G Bill 2025

Rajya Sabha passed ‘The Developed India-Employment and Livelihood Guarantee Mission (Rural) 2025’ i.e. VB-G Ram Ji Bill. As soon as the bill was passed, opposition parties lodged a strong protest. This bill was passed by voice vote in Rajya Sabha. Under the bill, it has been claimed to guarantee wage based employment to every rural family for 125 days in a year. The government says that this scheme will remove the shortcomings of MNREGA. At the same time, the opposition created a ruckus regarding the bill.

During the passage of the bill, opposition parties strongly protested in the Rajya Sabha. Many MPs walked out of the House and raised slogans against the government. The opposition alleges that the government has attacked Mahatma Gandhi’s legacy by removing his name from MNREGA. Apart from this, the issue of putting additional financial burden on the states was also raised.

protest in parliament premises

After the protest inside the House, the opposition parties staged a protest outside the Constitution House located in the Parliament complex. The opposition demanded that this bill be withdrawn or sent to a parliamentary committee, so that it can be investigated in depth. The opposition says that such a major change without adequate discussion and consensus is not in the interest of the rural poor.

Government’s response

Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan rejected the opposition’s allegations and said that there were many flaws in MNREGA. He alleged that there was corruption in the scheme during the Congress rule and not enough money was spent on purchasing material for the scheduled works. The minister said that the new bill will make employment more transparent and effective.

What did Kharge say on the bill?

Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha and Congress MP Mallikarjun Kharge said that the ministers who talk about showing sympathy towards the poor are today bent on abolishing MNREGA. He said that the government is bringing this law out of compulsion, but is not telling the truth to the country. Kharge warned that just as the three agricultural laws had to be withdrawn, this law will also have to be withdrawn. He questioned whether the government wants people to take to the streets, protest, take bullets and commit suicide. Kharge clearly said that the poor will never support this law and Congress will continue fighting for it.

If Congress returns to power then the name will be added – Pramod Tiwari

Rajya Sabha MP Pramod Tiwari said the day Congress returns to power, Mahatma Gandhi’s name will be added again and MNREGA will be restored in its original form. He called it a promise of Congress. Pramod Tiwari alleged that the Godse-like thinking of the government will be eliminated.
