A Scorpio loaded with tourists going from Pilibhit to visit Kainchi Dham went out of control and fell into a ditch near Niglat on the Bhawali-Almora National Highway. Three tourists died in the accident, while five people were injured. The injured were rescued from the ditch with the help of police and local people and taken to Bhawali CHC.
Kotwal Prakash Singh Mehra said that in the accident, Rishi Patel (7) son of Rahul Patel, resident of Bareilly Airport Air Force Pilibhit Road, Izzatnagar, Swati (20) daughter of Bhuparam, Akshay (20) son of Chandan Singh Patel, Jyoti (25) son of Karan, resident of Karan (25) son of Jitendra, Rahul Patel (35) son of Bhuparam, Ganga Devi (56) son of Bhuparam, Brijesh Kumari (26) daughter of Rahul. Patel and Nancy Gangwar (24), daughter of Jaipal Singh, were taken to the hospital.
CHC doctor Ramesh Kumar said that Ganga Devi, Nancy Gangwar and Brijesh Kumari died before reaching the hospital. Also, the five injured were referred to Haldwani Higher Centre.
