The Uttarakhand government has implemented a new rule for tourists coming to Quis of Heels. The state tourism department has made registration of tourists mandatory to deal with the increasing crowd and traffic problem in Mussoorie. This new rule has come into effect from 30 July.
It is being told that automated number plate recognition (ANPR) cameras have been installed at three places in Mussoorie- Kimadi, Kampti Fall and Kuthal Gate which will record the number plate of vehicles. This system will help in traffic management.
Long peak is pick time
Meanwhile, in a special conversation with Aaj Tak, Uttarakhand Tourism Secretary Dheeraj Garbyal said that the arrival of tourists in Mussoorie is especially on peak during summer holidays, winter holidays and long weekends.
He said, ‘After the order of NGT, we are collecting data to assess Mussoorie’s carrying capacity. With this registration system, we will know how many tourists are present in Mussoorie at one time.
Garbyal clarified that registration is not yet compulsory and has been kept flexible in the initial stage. Hotels can also register for their guests.
Information given to owners of hotel, guest house
At the same time, District Tourism Officer Brijendra Pandey said that the hotel, guest house, homestay and other such facilities will have to be registered on the first portal and register their guests at the time of check-in.
He said that this decision has been taken towards avoiding increasing congestion and traffic problem in Mussoorie. Pandey said that the new rule has to be implemented because the number of tourists coming to the city has doubled between 2022 and 2024.
He said that this step will provide real -time data about the number of tourists in the city. Hotel owners have been asked to follow the new rule.
NGT directed the state government
Earlier in May, the National Green Tribunal (NGT) had asked the state government to start registration of tourists at the hill station and submit the data regularly.
Where to register
The process of registration is very easy. Tourists will have to register by visiting the portal registrationTouristcare.uk.gov.in. In this, the details of Aadhaar card number, vehicle (two-wheeler or four-wheeler) and entering the name of your city will have to be recorded.
