B-2 bomber capacity to fill fuel in the air
Refuying tanker fuel in B-2 bomber.
In B-2 Spirit Stealth Bomber, the process of filling fuel in the air is called air-to-air refueling or in-flight refueling. This technique gives long distance aircraft the ability to fly thousands of miles without landing. Understand how to fill fuel in the air from 3 points:
- The B-2 requires a refueling tanker aircraft to fill the air fuel, such as the KC-135 strotinker or the KC-46 Pegasus.
- The tanker is a telescopic tube behind the aircraft, called boom. This tube controls an operator, it connects the boom to the B-2 fuel receptacle in the rear of the tanker.
- At the end of the boom there is a nozzle, which is locked in the receptacl of B-2, and then the fuel is filled (about 2 thousand liters per minute)
