Under this, American lawmakers have now asked to reconsider President Donald Trump’s recent announcement on the H-1B visa program. The announcement includes a $100,000 fee for new H-1B visa applications and other restrictions.

In the case, US MP Jimmy Panetta, and other MPs Amy Beda, Salud Carbajal and Julie Johnson wrote a letter to Trump on Thursday, saying that this decision will not only affect professionals of Indian origin, but can also have a negative impact on relations between America and India.

Why are India-US relations strong?


In the letter, the MPs said that we are members of the delegation that recently visited India and we know that the H-1B program is very important not only for the US economy, but also for national security, technological competitiveness and relations with India.

He warned that while China is investing heavily in artificial intelligence and advanced technologies, the US must continue to attract the world’s best talent to ensure its innovation system remains strong.

Last year 71 percent of Indian H-1B visa holders


Along with this, it was said in the letter that India was the country of 71 percent of H-1B visa holders last year. Indian professionals play a key role in maintaining leadership in information technology and AI in the US. Lawmakers also pointed out that H-1B holders help American companies create new jobs and businesses and do not jeopardize the jobs of American workers. Many large American companies were founded or led by H-1B visa holders.

The letter said Indian-Americans and other H-1B holders strengthen the economies, educational and social institutions of our constituencies and contribute to our communities. The lawmakers stressed that the H-1B program is not just about meeting the need for workers, but is also important for America’s technological leadership and national security.



He urged Trump to maintain and expand this program. Congressman Panetta said the H-1B visa program helps keep the United States at the forefront of technological innovation, and this is even more important today with the increasing use of AI.
