The scorching heat in the capital on Monday broke the heat record of the last four years in January. Earlier, such heat was seen in the winter of January 2021. People were seen becoming uncomfortable in woolen clothes due to the heat. Whereas there are still 10 days left in January.

There has been a rise of 9.2 degrees in the daytime mercury in 72 hours between Thursday and Monday. The day temperature on Thursday was 17.4 degrees whereas on Monday it reached 26.6 degrees Celsius. Whereas in Lucknow on Monday, westerly winds blew at a speed of 35 to 40 km per hour, due to which the air quality here also showed a slight improvement. The air quality of Kukrail and BBAU was recorded in green i.e. good category. The Meteorological Department says that if these westerly winds had not been there, the day temperature would have increased further.
Atul Kumar Singh, senior scientist of the Zonal Meteorological Center, says that the fog cleared due to the strong westerly wind speed of 40 km per hour. Due to the absence of fog, the scorching sunlight reached the ground directly and there was a rise in the mercury. The weather is going to remain like this till 23 January. There is a possibility of drop in mercury due to presence of fog from 24th.
On Monday, the day temperature in Lucknow was recorded at 26.6 degrees Celsius with a rise of 4.2 degrees Celsius and the night temperature was recorded at 11.5 degrees Celsius with a rise of 2.7 degrees.
