Registration of defaulters came on Thursday, the third day of the implementation of the Electricity Bill Relief Scheme (OTS). But the crowd that should gather to avail the discount is not happening. The reason for this is believed to be a mistake in setting the discount standards. However, the defaulters with huge amount are busy in getting no-dues certificate by depositing the remaining amount. On Thursday, Bal Govind of Malihabad was freed from the liability of Rs 3 lakh by depositing only Rs 73,988.

Amausi Zone Chief Engineer Mahfooz Alam said that the total bill of Bal Govind was Rs 3,07732. Got a discount of Rs 2,33,744 on registration, which includes the original bill amount of Rs 24,236. Lucknow Central Zone Chief Engineer Ravi Kumar Aggarwal said that Fazalnagar resident Officer Mirza was owed a fine of Rs 1,15,544 for electricity theft.

Officer Mirza got 50 percent discount on Thursday and deposited Rs 65,544. Jankipuram Zone Chief Engineer VP Singh said that two residents of Jankipuram, Zaheer Ahmed and one each of BKT residents Nirmala Verma, Girdhari and Shailendra Yadav were registered to get exemption on electricity theft fine. All three BKT consumers have deposited the fine. Zaheer has an outstanding fine of around Rs 10 lakh in two different cases. According to Sushil Garg, Chief Engineer of Gomtinagar Zone, Rs 1.48 lakh was collected when five cases of electricity theft were registered on Thursday.
