Under the electricity relief scheme starting from Monday in the state, consumers who register from December 1 to 31 will get 25 percent rebate on surcharge and the outstanding balance of the original bill. After this, there will be 20 percent discount in January and 15 percent discount in February. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Energy Minister AK Sharma have appealed to consumers to take advantage of the scheme.
In the state, consumers of MLV 1 (domestic) up to a maximum of two kilowatts and LMV2 (commercial) of up to one kilowatt are being given relief in electricity bill dues. For the first time, a provision of 25 percent rebate in principal amount and 100 percent rebate in surcharge from December 1 to 31 has been made. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that this is a public welfare step. Its direct benefits will reach common citizens and small electricity consumers. The benefits of the scheme can be availed from December 1, 2025 to February 28, 2026. Energy Minister AK Sharma said that he has instructed all the departmental officers that the consumers who have never paid their bills, who have not paid their bills for a long time and those whose theft cases have been resolved, have been included in the electricity bill relief scheme.
