A large blackmailing racket has been exposed in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, in which a lawyer and his partner have been arrested. It is alleged that advocate Akhilesh Dubey along with his colleague Lavi Mishra had conspired to recover lakhs of rupees through a fake rape case from many high-profile people, including BJP leaders.
Arrest under ‘Operation Mahakal’
According to the report of the news agency, this action was taken under a month -long Operation Mahakal run by Kanpur police, which was aimed at clamping down on the recovery gang and land mafia.
BJP leader had filed FIR
BJP leader Ravi Satija lodged an FIR against lawyer Dubey at Barra police station, alleging that Dubey filed a false rape case against him last year and then demanded Rs 50 lakh.
FIR was lodged on the complaint of a woman, but she never came to make a statement before the investigation team. After investigation, the police found the case fake and filed a closure report.
Now search for a woman who raped the rape case
The Special Investigation Team (SIT) closely investigated the case, in which it was clear that the case was completely fake and its purpose was only the money. Apart from this, a case has also been registered against many others including Nisha Kumari, Geeta Kumari, Vimal Yadav, Abhishek Bajpai and Shailendra Yadav alias Tonu Yadav, who are being told in this racket.
DCP Dipendra Nath Chaudhary of South said that BJP MP from Sitapur Ashok Rawat had written a letter to the Kanpur Police Commissioner informing about such a racket, after which the SIT was formed on 3 March. The police is still searching for the absconding accused woman and her sister and more arrests may be done in the coming days.
