A high-level delegation from the 15 UN Security Council member states arrived in Syria for the first time since the council’s establishment in 1945. The visit comes as the country marks one year since the fall of former President Bashar al-Assad and is in the process of rejoining the global community under a new interim government. Syria is currently going through its most critical phase of political transition under the leadership of new interim President and former Islamic rebel commander Ahmed al-Sharaa.

Justice, Reconciliation and National Dialogue Main Agenda
Jabogar said that keeping in mind the current situation and future direction of Syria, many important topics were discussed in depth in the meeting. In this, first of all, emphasis was laid on the process of justice and reconciliation, so that the wounds of long-running conflicts could be healed and mutual trust could be restored in the society. Along with this, there was also agreement on the need to strengthen political inclusion and national dialogue, so that all sections of the country can get an equal role in the new political structure.
Economic stability and development plans were also discussed in detail at the meeting, as reconstruction of war-affected areas and getting the economy back on track are vital for Syria’s future. There was also talk of increasing cooperation on anti-terrorism strategies and ensuring that Syria does not become a threat to the security of any country. Jabogar reiterated that the international community fully supports Syria’s sovereignty, unity, independence and territorial integrity and this visit is a step towards strengthening that confidence.
