Union Minister and BJP’s West Bengal state president Sukant Majumdar has claimed that his convoy was attacked in Bajbaj area of South 24 Parganas district on 19 June. After this attack, he wrote a letter to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, calling it a violation of serious security omission and privilege of the MP. He also posted on the social media platform X and wrote that TMC -backed criminals attacked my convoy in Bajbaj. He said that the police remained mute spectators. This is not just an attack on my life, but a direct attack on democracy.

Let me tell you that it is being claimed that Majumdar had gone to meet party workers, who were attacked outside the BDO office a day earlier. Meanwhile, his convoy was surrounded by a mob of TMC supporters, shouted slogans and stoned. Many trains were damaged and some people were injured.

Majumdar accused the officers of negligence
At the same time, Majumdar wrote his post that this attack was a direct threat to his life and it is an attack on democracy. He wrote that when the attack took place, the Superintendent of Police of Diamond Harbor was present on the spot, but he did not take any action. The SDPO also did not reach the spot, while he was already informed about the visit. Majumdar said that the situation was handled by CISF personnel, which they have received under Z category security.

Letter written to Lok Sabha Speaker and Union Home Minister Shah
In this case, Majumdar has given notice of breach of privilege under the Lok Sabha Procedure Rules 222 to the Lok Sabha Speaker. He has described the incident as an attack on the dignity of the MP and the democratic system. At the same time, he has also written a letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, demanding an inquiry into the deteriorating law and order situation in West Bengal, deployment of central forces in politically sensitive areas and taking action against the officials who were negligent in the attack.
