Ukraine: Ukraine’s Mirnohrad reached Russian encirclement, destruction on every road; Exclusive Drone Footage Shows Devastated Ukrainian Town Nearly Encircled By Russian Forces

A very shocking drone footage has emerged from the eastern Donetsk region of Ukraine, in which the city of Mirnohrad is seen almost completely surrounded by the Russian army. This footage, recently shot for The Associated Press, shows the devastation of the city so deep that there is hardly a street left that is not marked with destruction. Smoke is still visible in many areas, which is evidence of the continuous attacks.

Oleksiy Hodzhenko, press officer of the drone battalion of Ukraine’s 38th Marine Brigade, said that the Russian army seems to want to erase this city from the map.

almost completely surrounded city

According to the open-source map DeepState, Mirnohrad is almost under the control of the Russian army. There is still one way left for Ukrainian troops, but due to Russian pressure, logistics supply and rotation of troops has become extremely difficult.

Hodzenko said that we are not even able to change soldiers for several weeks. People remain stuck there. Ukraine’s Eastern Command said that they are trying to deliver essential supplies to the soldiers. Now even ground-robot drones are being used to send food items and water.

The city with a population of 46 thousand has been destroyed

Before Russia’s massive invasion in 2022, about 46,000 people lived in Mirnohrad, but the city is now nearly empty. In the last one year, up to 500 kg of glide bombs, hundreds of attack drones and continuous artillery shelling have made this city completely unlivable. The situation is so tense that, according to Hodzenko, every few minutes the message blares on the radio ‘KAB (glide bomb) on Mirnohrad’. He says that our soldiers are now fighting beyond their human limits to hold the city.

Position strengthened by victory in war

Yuri Ushakov, an adviser to Russia’s presidential office, said the Russian military’s recent advances have strengthened Russia’s position in ongoing negotiations with the US on a deconfliction plan. On Tuesday, Russia claimed that its forces had taken control of the nearby city of Pokrovsk, but Ukraine rejected this. Ukrainian forces say they are still fighting in the northern part of the city.

Hodzenko appealed to Western countries for continued aid. He said that if the West wants to avoid war with Russia in the future, it will have to provide all possible help now.
