Uttarakhand UCC: There is a lot of resentment among Muslim organizations regarding the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), which came into force in Uttarakhand on Monday (January 27 2025). Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind has also issued a statement against Uttarakhand UCC saying that uniform civil code is not acceptable to Muslims in any situation.
Maulana Mahmood Asad Madani, president of Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind, has described the Uniform Civil Code implemented in Uttarakhand against the religious freedom in the Constitution and has said to be like killing democracy.
‘Most of the people of the country do not accept the Uniform Civil Code’
General Secretary Maulana Mahmood Madni said that it is anti -justice to implement this law by ignoring the objections of the respective parties, especially Muslim minorities. The facts of the people sought by the Law Commission of India had revealed the fact that most of the people of the country do not accept the Uniform Civil Code. Therefore, the Law Commission had advised the government that the Uniform Civil Code was neither desirable nor there is any need. Despite this, neglecting public suggestions and recommendations of the Law Commission, the government has killed democracy by imposing this law on the public like a dictator.
Maulana Madani has said that we had repeatedly presented the truth to the governments that the country and the constitution made the promise to protect personal laws. If the government retracts from this promise, then we will struggle against it by staying within the purview of law and constitution.
Unity and integrity of the country will affect
Maulana Mahmud Madani further said that our country is a great example of unity in diversity. Whatever law will be made by ignoring it, it will directly affect the unity and integrity of the country. This in itself is the biggest reason for opposition to the Uniform Civil Code.
Supporting the Islamic Sharia, Maulana Madani said that we are firm on the fact that Muslims will be fully stuck on the Islamic Sharia and will not care about any law coming in this path.
