Growing strategic gap between India

Recently, when India increased diplomatic and military partnership with Turki’s anti -Cyprus and Greece, it was a clear message that India was not taking the Turki’s growing proximity with Pakistan lightly. At the same time, the Turki has started several military projects with Pakistan and has also supported Pakistan on various global forums. Now selling state-of-the-art systems like S-400 to Pakistan can become a new challenge for India.

Wants to leave the Turkas S-400, want to get F-35 from America
The Turki signed a S-400 defense system deal with Russia in 2017, but due to this it was excluded from the US F-35 fighter jet program and also had to face CAATSA sanctions. Now the Turki wants to improve relations with the US and is developing a new multi-layer air defense system called ‘Steel Dome’.

‘Steel Dome’ will be completely domestic, in which Turk’s defense companies are working aselsan, Roketsan and MKE. The Turki has made it clear that the Russian S-400 will not be included in this system. These are the indications that the Turki is preparing to get rid of the S-400 and is trying to join the F-35 program again.

Will S-400 be sold to Pakistan?
Former Turki minister Cavit Kagaller created a sensation by making a statement that Turki should consider selling S-400 and its potential buyers could be India or Pakistan. Although he gave priority to Pakistan, but this is just speculation, no official confirmation. The reality is that the Turki, S-400 has neither fully integrated into its network, nor has it activated it. In such a situation, by selling this system, he can think of satisfying America.

How much possible to sell S-400 to Pakistan?
However, technical and diplomatically it is not as easy. The Turki’s agreement with Russia makes it clear that it can neither transfer nor sell the S-400 to any other country, unless it is pre-allowed from Russia. And it is almost impossible to get this permission.

Russia is not only a strategic partner of India, but it has already given five squadron of S-400 to India. Russia would not want India to have the same system. Also, the economic condition of Heepakistan is also not to buy expensive systems like S-400. The price of a squadron is around $ 500 million.

India can get an additional batch of S-400
On the other hand, in addition to S-400 S-400 batch and S-500 system, talks are also going on between India and Russia. India is already an operator of these systems and Russia also trusts India. In such a situation, if the Turki wants to get rid of the S-400, then India can become a practical buyer for this. Provided that Russia allows it.

At present, the two S-400 units near the Turki are lying inactive and are kept in an anonymous place. Turkas do not want to activate it so that relations with NATO and America can maintain better.
