A tragic accident occurred in Tonk, Rajasthan on Tuesday, when 11 youths from Jaipur took a bath in the Banas river and were swept away. All the youths reached the old bridge of the river at around 12 noon to celebrate a picnic.

All the youths drowned in the fast flow
According to the locals, all the youths came out for a bath in the river together, but after some time, due to the strong current, they went deep and drowned. Local villagers made noise and immediately informed the police. As soon as the information was received, the team of Tonk police, administration and SDRF reached the spot and the rescue operation was started. So far, the bodies of 8 youths have been recovered, while the search for the remaining 3 is going on. All were brought to Saadat Hospital, where doctors declared 8 youths dead.

Local people said that this part of the river is deep and there was no warning board or security system here. This is the old bridge area, where people often go to bathe without knowing.

As soon as the news of the incident was received, there was a crowd of family members and local people in Saadat Hospital. The dead are being identified amidst screaming and inconsolable atmosphere. All the youths are said to be residents of Jaipur. SP Vikas Sangwan described the accident as extremely tragic and appealed to the people not to take full vigilance while bathing in the river and do not get into deep water without knowing. The rescue operation is still ongoing and additional divers have been called. There is a wave of mourning in the entire Tonk district after this accident. The administration has seriously intensified the investigation and relief work. The police is contacting the relatives of the deceased and is looking for the missing youths.
