Geyser is one of the most electricity consuming appliances, hence it should be used carefully. Do not set the geyser’s thermostat too high. It is best to set it between 50-55 degrees Celsius and heating water at higher temperatures consumes more electricity. Get the geyser serviced at least once a year. Dirt and scale accumulated in the tank affect the functioning of the heating element, increasing power consumption. Do not keep the geyser running continuously. Turn it on 10-15 minutes before bathing and turn it off immediately after use. By keeping it on continuously, hot water keeps getting cooled and electricity is wasted in heating it again and again.
If your geyser has a timer then use it so that the geyser runs only when required. Choose the capacity of the geyser as per the needs of your family. A geyser that is too large will unnecessarily heat too much water and increase electricity costs. Before turning on the geyser again, open the tap and check whether there is already hot water left in the tank, which you can use.
Things to keep in mind while using room heater
If the heater has a thermostat, it controls the room temperature, and switches the heater on/off as per need, thereby saving electricity. Before running the heater, close the windows and doors properly so that the heat will remain inside the room and the heater will have to run for less time. After heating the room, switch off the heater and do not keep the heater on continuously and run it only when needed. Use the heater mainly in small and closed rooms, so that heat can be generated quickly and the heater can be turned off quickly.
