A horrific road accident took place on Sunday near Tirupathur in Sivagangai district of Tamil Nadu, in which a total of 11 people, including a child, died in a head-on collision between two buses. About 20 people are said to be injured in this accident. The incident was confirmed by Shivaganga District Superintendent of Police Shiva Prasad.

Buses were going to Karaikudi and Madurai
Police said one bus was going to Karaikudi, while the other was going towards Madurai when both the buses collided head-on near Thirupathur. Due to the collision, many passengers got trapped inside the vehicles, who were taken out with the help of local people.

Police gave this information. A senior district police official said the accident occurred about 15 kilometers from Karaikudi. All 11 people killed died on the spot. These include eight women, two men and one child. At the same time, more than 20 injured were sent to government hospitals for treatment. The official said the cause of the collision is not yet clear. Police is investigating this matter.
Chief Minister MK Stalin expressed grief over the incident. He said that District Collector and Minister in-charge of the district, KR Periyakruppan, has been directed to provide all possible help to the affected people and provide proper treatment to the injured. He also announced a compensation of Rs 3 lakh each to the families of the victims and Rs 1 lakh to the seriously injured. CM has announced to give Rs 50,000 to those with minor injuries.
