Talks in Saudi Arabia between the Taliban and Pakistani officials have ended without any agreement. No solution could be found to the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) dispute between the two countries. For the third time in one and a half months the meeting has failed.
Earlier, two rounds of talks had taken place in Istanbul under the mediation of Turkey. Only in the first meeting in Doha, Qatar, immediate ceasefire was agreed upon, but no way forward was found on the TTP issue.
According to the report of Afghanistan International, a Taliban delegation had attended this meeting. This included Afghanistan’s Deputy Interior Minister Rahmatullah Najib, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Abdul Kahar Balkhi and Taliban leader Anas Haqqani.

What is the agreement being reached between the two countries?
The focus of talks between the two countries is Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). Pakistan wants Taliban not to allow TTP to operate from its territory. TTP fighters continuously attack the army and police in Pakistan.
Pakistan wants Taliban to take strict action against TTP. Also eliminate its hideouts and stop attacks from Afghan soil. Pakistan alleges that Taliban is hiding TTP and not taking strict steps.
Pak intelligence agency and army are not allowing talks to take place
The Taliban has not yet given any public statement on these meetings. Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid has already said that some people associated with Pakistan’s intelligence agencies and army are derailing the talks and trying to increase tension.
After the Taliban-Pakistan conflict that started on October 9, both sides signed a ceasefire in Qatar on October 19. The second round of talks on dealing with terrorism held in Turkey from 25 to 30 October ended without any agreement. However the ceasefire continues.
Ceasefire agreement was signed between Pakistan and Afghanistan on October 19 in Doha, the capital of Qatar. During this, representatives of Turkey and Qatar were also present.
Pakistan had dropped bombs in Kabul
The conflict between Afghanistan and Pakistan began on October 9 when Islamabad attacked Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) positions in Kabul. Afghan people are blaming Pakistan for border dispute and airspace violation.
The root of the dispute between the two countries is the Durand Line, which was drawn between India and Afghanistan during the British era. It divides the traditional land of both the countries and the Pathans on both sides never accept it.
There was fatal firing between the two sides at at least seven places on the Durand Line. Both sides claimed heavy losses from each other. According to Reuters, Pakistan said it killed more than 200 Afghan Taliban and their allies, while Afghanistan claims it eliminated 58 Pakistani soldiers.
