On Wednesday, the Supreme Court questioned the Telangana government’s action in the case of harvesting of trees in Kancha Gachibavali near Hyderabad University. The Supreme Court asked the government what was this hurry to demolish trees? A bench of Justice BR Gawai and Justice Augustine George Christ asked Telangana senior advocate Abhishek Singhvi to plan to restore forest and greenery on 100 acres of land.

What is the whole matter
Trees are being cut from 400 acres of land near Hyderabad University. This land belongs to the state government and the government has allocated it to Telangana Industrial Infrastructure Corporation. Telangana Industrial Infrastructure Cooperation started harvesting trees from March 30 for development on this land. Which students and environmentalists from Hyderabad University started protesting.
The protesters say that this is violating the Forest Protection Act. However, the state government says that this land belongs to the university administration. The government is also denying the violation of the law. Protests are taking place at Hyderabad University and this is causing loss of academic session.

The case was raised before the Supreme Court by the Supreme Court by the Supreme Court and the God of Senior Advocate. Taking automatic cognizance in the case, the court directed on April 3 that until further orders, no activity of any kind will be done by the state or any authority. The Supreme Court had also asked the Central Empowered Committee to visit the concerned site and submit the report.
