A bench of Justices Suryakant and Justice N. Kotishwar Singh indicated that she could hear the case next week. Advocate Prashant Bhushan, appearing for the NGO Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR), told the bench to hear the case today and tomorrow and settle the case. In 2024, the Supreme Court refused to ban the appointment of two Election Commissioners under the Chief Election Commissioner and other Election Commissioner Act, 2023. Along with ADR, Jaya Thakur (General Secretary of Madhya Pradesh Mahila Congress Committee), Sanjay Narayanrao Meshram, Dharmendra Singh Kushwaha and Advocate Gopal Singh have also filed petitions in the Supreme Court demanding a ban on the Act.
