The Supreme Court has rejected a petition seeking to conduct an investigation into the New Delhi railway station accident by the CBI. It was said in the petition that the death toll of this accident could be up to 200, but the railway is only talking about 18 deaths. A bench headed by Justice Bhushan Ramakrishna Gavai asked the petitioner the basis of this claim. The petitioner had no clear answer to this.
The lawyer of an organization named Anand Legal Forum Trust, who filed the petition, also said that on February 15, many victims of stampede at the railway station have not received compensation yet. On this, the court said that do you know such a person yourself? If this has happened to someone, then he can come to court himself. This petition has been filed without reliable information.
The petition demanded a fair investigation, accusing the railway officials of being negligent and hiding the facts. This petition was also demanded to preserve all the CCTV footage of the railway station and hospital, but the Supreme Court refused to hear the petition.
Keep in mind that a petition regarding this accident is pending in the Delhi High Court. In it, there has been a demand to fully implement the rules related to the platform and the entry of people in the train. The High Court has sought answers from the Railways, considering this suggestion as important.
