The Supreme Court on Wednesday allowed the Delhi government to take punitive action against old vehicles that do not comply with BS-IV emission standards. The Supreme Court has amended its earlier order given in August this year.

Amidst the continuously deteriorating air quality in Delhi-NCR, the Supreme Court has given an important order regarding vehicle emissions. The Supreme Court on Wednesday allowed the Delhi government to take punitive action against old vehicles that do not comply with Bharat Stage-IV (BS-IV) emission standards. This decision has been taken in view of the increasing air pollution in the capital and surrounding areas and is expected to strengthen efforts to control vehicle emissions.
