A tension situation arose in Majgama Haat area of Purnia district on Friday. An under -construction statue of Maa Durga was vandalized here, after which angry people took to the road and protested. The angry mob set fire to the road and ransacked several shops.
During this time, the mob caught a Muslim youth on charges of sabotage and tied it with a rope after beating him fiercely. Police immediately reached the spot on information, but the mob refused to hand over the accused to the police.
