Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly is set to become the coach of Team India. He expressed this desire in an interview to PTI. He flatly refused to enter politics. Apart from this, the former BCCI president also spoke on Gautam Gambhir’s coaching.

The Indian team is on a tour of England these days. During this time, a series of 5 Test matches is being played between the two teams. The first match of the series is being played at Leeds’s headingle ground.

On the question of coaching, Ganguly said- I played different roles. I became the president of the Bengal Cricket Association (CAB) and then the BCCI President. I never got time, but let’s see what happens in the future. I am 50 years old and I am ready to become the coach of the Indian team on getting a chance. Let’s see what happens in the future.

Sourav Ganguly’s cricket career was around 16 years.

Gautam is doing good work Ganguly praised the current coach Gautam Gambhir. Ganguly said- Gautam is doing a good job. He made a little slow start to Australia and New Zealand, but he performed well with the Champions Trophy. It is going to be a big series (against England).

Ganguly’s cricket career was about 16 years old Ganguly made his ODI debut against the West Indies in 1992 and made a brilliant innings of 131 runs in 1996, making a Test debut at the Lord’s ground. Ganguly scored 7,212 runs in 113 Tests in his international career and 11,363 runs in 311 ODIs. He scored 16 centuries in Tests and 22 centuries in ODIs. His best score in ODI was 183 runs, which he made against Sri Lanka in the 1999 World Cup.

He became the captain of India in the year 2000. Under Ganguly’s captaincy, India won several historical Test matches abroad and traveled to the 2003 World Cup final. Won the NatWest Trophy at Lord’s in 2002. He retired from international cricket in 2008.

He was the President of BCCI from 2019 to 2022 Ganguly captained the national team from 2000 to 2005 and later worked as the 35th President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) from 2019 to 2022. Earlier, he was the President of the Bengal Cricket Association from 2015 to 2019. He became the chairman of the ICC Cricket Committee in 2021. He was appointed to the post in place of Anil Kumble.

Ganguly was also part of the coach -choosing committee. In 2017, Ganguly was a member of the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) to choose Ravi Shastri as head coach, including Sachin Tendulkar and VVS Laxman.

Gautam Gambhir India’s current head coach Gautam Gambhir is currently the head coach of Team India. He took over this responsibility in July last year. Gambhir, 42, replaced Rahul Dravid, known as The Wall. Gambhir’s term will remain till July 2027.
