On January 25, the Central Government announced the Padma Awards winners. It also includes names of many faces from the world of music. Singer Sonu Nigam has now raised questions on this. Sonu Nigam has expressed his displeasure by posting a video on Instagram. He captioned the video as India and its pending Padma awards.
Why have veteran singers not received the award yet?
In the video, Sonu says- ‘Two such singers who have inspired singers all over the world. We have limited one to Padma Shri only. That is Mohammad Rafi Saheb. There is one who has not even been awarded Padma Shri, Kishore Kumar ji. Is he getting the award posthumously?
Taking his words further, Sonu says, ‘And among them, Alka Yagnik ji’s career was so long and amazing. He too has not received anything. Shreya Ghoshal has been proving her art for a long time. Sunidhi Chauhan has inspired the entire generation with her unique voice. He too has not received the award.
Has won many awards for singing
Sonu Nigam, who started his career as a stage singer, has the title of ‘Modern Rafi’. In his career, he has sung about 6 thousand songs in more than 32 languages. For his excellent singing, he has been honored with many other awards including National Award, Filmfare Award. Sonu Nigam has received the Padma Shri award in the year 2022.
Apart from romantic songs, Sonu Nigam has also sung many hits devotional, patriotic, rock and ghazal.
Sharda Sinha and Pankaj Udhas received posthumous honor
On the eve of 26 January, 139 Padma awards were announced by the government. The names of folk singers Sharda Sinha, Pankaj Udhas, Arijit Singh were announced for their excellent contribution in the field of art. It was announced that Sharda Sinha would be awarded Padma Vibhushan posthumously and Pankaj Udhas would be awarded Padma Bhushan. At the same time, Arijit Singh, who is included in the living legend, will be honored with Padma Shri.
