Shubman Gill will not play the fourth T20 match against South Africa. He will have to sit out of the match due to a leg injury. According to media reports, Gill suffered a leg injury during the training session. There is news that Sanju Samson can take his place in the playing eleven. T20 team vice-captain Shubman Gill has so far been able to score only 32 runs in the first 3 T20 matches of the series against South Africa.
India vs South Africa 4th T20 match is to be played at Ekana Stadium, Lucknow. The match was to start at 7 pm Indian time, but the toss was also delayed due to fog. BCCI has not yet issued any statement on the seriousness of Gill’s injury.
There is speculation that Sanju Samson will get a chance in the playing eleven if Shubman Gill is out. Samson has not played a single match in this series, but can be seen opening with Abhishek Sharma in the fourth T20. Let us remind you that earlier due to neck injury, Gill could not play even in the ODI series against South Africa.
No half century from 18 innings
For the last several weeks, Shubman Gill has been under constant criticism. He has not been able to score any fifty in the last 18 T20 innings. In the third T20 match against South Africa, he scored 28 runs, but he scored these runs playing 28 balls. His previous half-century came against Zimbabwe in July 2024. In that match he played an innings of 58 runs in 39 balls. But after that, in the last 18 innings, Gill has been able to cross the 40-run mark only twice.
