The IT department raided Shilpa Shetty’s restaurant in Mumbai on Thursday. According to news agency PTI, official sources said on Thursday that the Income Tax Department has raided the offices of several food and beverage companies in Mumbai on charges of tax evasion, including a company linked to actress Shilpa Shetty. He said that raids are being conducted at about 20-24 places in and around Mumbai since Wednesday, as the department had received inputs worthy of taking action against some companies in this sector.

Sources said the search included some offices of a restaurant owned by Shilpa Shetty and some others. He denied that his Mumbai home was raided by tax officials. Tax officials said the IT probe has no connection with the FIR lodged by the Maharashtra Police against Shilpa Shetty and her husband Raj Kundra (on charges of fraud), nor with the case registered by the Bengaluru Police against a local restaurant for allegedly operating beyond legal working hours.
