Aryan Khan drug case investigating officer Sameer Wankhede has filed a defamation case of Rs 2 crore on Shah Rukh Khan and his production company Red Chillies. It is alleged that Aryan Khan has spoiled the image of Sameer Wankhede through his directorial series Bads of Bollywood.
Sameer Wankhede has issued a statement saying that he has filed this defamation case in the Delhi High Court. The case has been filed against Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan’s company Red Chillies Entertainment, OTT platform Netflix and some others.
In this, he appealed to the court to ban these people, compensate for loss and clear the truth. He says that the web series named ‘The Bads of Bollywood’ shows a false and malignant video that damaged his image.
The statement further stated that this series shows the agencies working against drugs in a wrong and negative way, which reduces the trust of these agencies.
Which scene was disputed?
Actually, the series is made on Bollywood backdrop. In the first episode, it is shown that Bollywood celebs have become part of a success party, out of which an officer is shown arresting the boy consuming drugs. This character is shown very similar to Sameer Wankhede. After the release of the series, that character was also compared to Sameer Wankhede on social media.
The series was released on Netflix on 17 September.
In the statement, Sameer Wankhede has also said that he wants to donate the amount received as compensation to the Tata Memorial Cancer Hospital for the treatment of cancer patients.
Sameer Wankhede was the investigating officer in Aryan Khan’s drug case
On 2 October 2021, the Narcotic Control Bureau team arrested Aryan Khan and his friends from Kordiella Cruise going to Goa for taking drugs. The team of the then zonal director Sameer Wankhede climbed on the ship as a passenger. In a raid from 10 pm to 2 pm, other drugs including cocaine and charas were seized in large quantities.
Aryan Khan was kept in Arthur Road Jail for several weeks in this case. Aryan was released from Arthur Road Jail on 30 October due to delay in bail papers. Then on May 27, 2022, Aryan Khan and 5 others were given a clean chit for lack of adequate evidence.
The NCB filed a 6,000 -page charge sheet in the drugs case, in which a complaint was made against 14 accused, including Aryan Khan.
Due to this raid, Sameer Wankhede also came under investigation. The chat between him and Shahrukh Khan was also presented at that time. In the chat, Shah Rukh was seeking help from Sameer Wankhede.
Series Bads of Bollywood is in controversies
Many Bollywood actors have done cameo in this series. In the 7th episode of the series, Ranbir Kapoor is shown drinking e-cigarettes. After which a complaint has been filed against him.
According to IANS, this complaint was lodged by a person named Vinay Joshi. He says that Ranbir Kapoor was seen using the e-cigarette in the seventh episode of the show, but during this time no health warning or disclaimer was given.
Following the complaint, NHRC has sent notice to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. The Commission said that the ministry took necessary steps to prevent such content. The Commission also said that such scenes can have a wrong impact on the young audience.
