Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut on Tuesday announced that the Shiv Sena led by Uddhav Thackeray and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) will definitely contest the local body elections to be held in Maharashtra. After several months of speculation, cousins Uddhav Thackeray and Raj Thackeray again came on a stage in July. The two leaders joined the Government of Maharashtra to simultaneously protests against the first to fifth grade students and allegedly imposing Hindi language for students. After this, when the government withdrew its decision, the two leaders also organized a joint victory rally.
During a conversation with reporters in New Delhi, when Raut was asked whether Shiv Sena (UBT) and Raj Thackeray will contest the upcoming local elections, he said – ‘Sure.’ He further said, “Both Thackeray will sit together and discuss it.” Elections are to be held in the coming months in Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation and other municipal corporations.

Raut said that after the re-improving relationship between cousins between cousins, Shiv Sena (UBT) and MNS workers are confident that this alliance will get majority in municipalities of cities like Mumbai, Pune, Nashik, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Thane and Kalyan-Dombivali.
Significantly, in 2005, Raj Thackeray separated from Shiv Sena and formed Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) due to differences with his cousin Uddhav Thackeray. He presented MNS to the public by calling the real voice of the ‘rights of the native residents’. Since then, the parties of both cousins have been contesting against each other.
