Samsung Galaxy XR: South Korean company Samsung has finally launched its Galaxy XR headset after a long wait. This will be the first device to run on Google’s Android XR operating system. Currently, it has been launched only in South Korea and America and in the coming time it may come to other markets also. Samsung has created it in collaboration with Google and Qualcomm and in this, users will get the support of Gemini AI. It will compete with the already existing Apple Vision Pro in the market.
Features of Galaxy XR headset
This headset weighing 545 grams has a micro-OLED display. It uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 processor and has 16GB RAM and 256GB storage. It has a 6.5MP 3D camera system, 2 high resolution main camera sensors, 6 tracking camera sensors, 4 eye tracking cameras and depth sensor. It comes with 2 two-way speakers, which support spatial audio. It can give 2.5 hours of video playback on a single charge.
Gemini will get deep integration
Google says that Android XR is the first Android platform that is completely designed for the Gemini era. This will open new avenues for people to explore, connect and create. In the new Galaxy XR headset, users will be able to interact through their voice, eyes and hand gestures. It will have deep integration of Gemini and it will respond by understanding the context as an intelligent assistant. Google has optimized many of its apps including Maps, Photos, Meet, Chrome, TV and YouTube for this. In this headset, the user has got the feature of immersive view in Google Maps, with the help of which any landmark can be explored in 3D. Similarly, the spatial tab on YouTube will help in viewing 180 and 360 degree content.
How much is the price?
This headset has been launched at a price of $1,799 (approximately Rs 1.58 lakh), which is almost half of the Apple Vision Pro. Under the launch offer, customers are being given free Google AI Pro, YouTube Premium, Google Play Pass, YouTube TV Plus subscription and NBA League Pass etc. for one year.
