On Monday, there was a lot of uproar in the Rajya Sabha on the issue of giving reservation to Muslims in government contracts in Karnataka. In the House, Union Ministers Kiren Rijiju and JP Nadda made allegations against the Congress one after the other. Which was replied by Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge. The uproar continued even after Kharge’s reply. After this, the proceedings were adjourned till 2 pm.

Rijiju said that a senior Congress leader who holds the constitutional post, has said that the party will change the constitution to give reservation to Muslims. We cannot take this statement lightly. This statement has come from a person sitting in a constitutional post, not on behalf of a general party leader. It is very serious.

He said that changes in the Constitution to give religion based reservation cannot be tolerated. Congress leaders keep the book of the Constitution in the pocket, but are trying everything possible to weaken it. The Congress President should clarify the position of the party and tell the House and the country why the Congress wants to change the constitution to give reservation to Muslims?
Nadda also accused
The House leader and Union Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda alleged that the Congress was cutting the Constitution in pieces. While making the Indian Constitution, Dr. Ambedkar had clearly stated that reservation will not be given on the basis of religion. This is an accepted principle of the Constitution of India. The Government of Karnataka has given four percent reservation to minorities in public contracts. On this, he demanded a statement from Khage.

Kharge replied
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge replied amid the allegations of Kiren Rijiju and Nadda. He said that no one can change the constitution given by Dr. Ambedkar. We are people protecting the constitution. We are the people who traveled to India from Kanyakumari to Kashmir and BJP people who believe in breaking India. He tried to speak further but due to slogans of BJP MPs, his talk was repeatedly interrupted. Kharge said that we are the protector of the Indian Constitution.
