A heart-wrenching case has come to light from Gudh police station area of ​​Rewa, where the death of a newly married woman under suspicious circumstances has shaken the entire area. The husband murdered his wife just 6 months after marriage. Police say that the accused’s unemployment and addiction to playing PUBG became the reason for the incident.

The family members of the deceased have alleged that dowry demand and domestic torture took the life of their daughter.

The morning of 29 November was no less than a nightmare for Neha Patel’s family. On the mobile phone of Neha’s brother Sher Bahadur, a message came from brother-in-law Ranjit that ‘I have killed Neha, come and take her dead body.’ As soon as this message was received, the family members reached their in-laws house in Gurh, where Neha’s dead body was found lying in the room. Family members said that she was strangled to death.

Harassment regarding dowry since marriage

Neha was married to Ranjit Patel, resident of Gurhwa, on 5 May 2025. According to the family, pressure and harassment from in-laws regarding dowry had started after the marriage. Facing fights, assaults and taunts every day, Neha had reached her parents’ house many times with disputes.

Brother Sher Bahadur told that my sister was harassed for dowry. There were fights every day. There was a fight on 28th also. On 29th a message came that Neha has been killed. When we arrived, my sister had been strangled to death. The accused brother-in-law is absconding.

Disputes increased due to husband’s unemployment and PUBG addiction

Gudh SDOP Udit Mishra told that there used to be fights between husband and wife every day. He told that Ranjeet was unemployed and was addicted to playing PUBG game. His wife used to ask him to work, due to which disputes between the two increased. Neha’s body was found on the morning of 29th.

Prima facie this is a case of murder. The accused husband is absconding, will be arrested soon. Police sent the body for postmortem and have established a path and started investigation.
