Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Counter Intelligence Wing (CIK) of the police also took swift action across Kashmir on Thursday in connection with the car blast near the Red Fort in Delhi. Raids were conducted at around 250 locations across the valley. During this, more than 45 people including three employees and 20 OGWs were detained for questioning.
An official said that the CIK of the police along with other security agencies conducted simultaneous raids at 13 places in different districts of Kashmir. During this period 15 people were detained for questioning. Around 20 digital devices including smartphones, laptops, iPads and tablets have been seized from these locations. Objectionable material has also been found.
The official said that this action is part of the anti-terrorist operation to identify and destroy the sleeper cells and logistics support structures behind the Delhi blasts. This operation was conducted amidst tight security.
Police raids continued throughout the night on Wednesday in Anantnag, Pulwama and Kulgam districts in the white-collar terrorist module case. During this, the police have detained about 10 people including three government employees. These employees are from Health Department, Finance Department and Education Department. Officials said that during interrogation it was revealed that some of them had gone to Turkey in the last one year. Let us inform that till now seven people including doctors have been arrested in connection with the recovery of explosives in Faridabad, Haryana.
Medical student who made video call with mother and fiancee in custody
The Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) of Uttar Pradesh has detained a medical student resident of Khagund Qazigund. Sources said that before being taken into custody, the student was in touch with his mother and fiancee through video calls. Soon after, police and investigating agencies reached his house and took the student into custody. His family members have also been interrogated.
200 places raided in Kulgam
In Kulgam district, police raided more than 200 houses and premises of members and associates associated with Jamaat-e-Islami. More than 400 cordon and search operations have been conducted in Kulgam district in the last four days. About 500 people have also been interrogated.
22 locations linked to terrorists’ helpers raided in Baramulla, 20 detained
Jammu and Kashmir Police took major action against the terrorist network in Baramulla district of North Kashmir on Thursday. During these operations the police searched 22 properties belonging to OGW. During this, 20 OGWs including six people were detained. Apart from this, 292 vehicles were thoroughly checked at various police posts across the district.
A police official said that this action was taken to strengthen stability, security and harmony in the district. He said that during these operations, six people associated with the subversive network were brought into custody and brought to the police stations. Apart from this, during the search of properties belonging to OGWs, 20 OGWs were also detained, out of which two were sent to jail.
After their arrest under UAPA, two accused who are currently on bail were also investigated. One of them was then imprisoned under the preventive law. Eight accused released under UAPA were identified for cancellation of bail and two of them were produced in the local court.
The police officer said that 16 intensive search operations were conducted in the district. A thorough checking of 292 vehicles was carried out at various police posts across the district. Searches were conducted at the hideouts of five people and two people associated with Jamaat-e-Islami under the Exit and Internal Movement (Control) Ordinance. Two absconding accused were traced for action under UAPA.
