RCB cricketer Yash Dayal relief from Allahabad High Court, ban on arrest

Cricketer Yash Dayal, who played Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the IPL, has got a big relief from the Allahabad High Court. While hearing a petition challenging the FIR lodged in the case of sexual harassment, the High Court has stayed his arrest. At the same time, the court has also stopped any kind of oppressive action at the moment.

The case was heard in the division bench of Justice Siddharth Verma and Justice Anil Kumar Dasam. Advocate Gaurav Tripathi presented the side on behalf of Yash Dayal. The High Court made oral comments during the hearing that the two sides remained in a relationship for five years, in such a situation to say that “the relationships were made by pretending to be formed”, not prima facie. The court also said that the victim’s response is necessary at this point.

Court issued notice to the victim

The court has issued a notice to the victim and sought a reply, while the Uttar Pradesh government has also been instructed to present its case. The next hearing has been scheduled within four to six weeks. Significantly, a case of sexual harassment was registered against Yash Dayal at Indirapuram police station in Ghaziabad on 6 July. This FIR was registered under Section 69 of the Code of Justice of India (BNS).

After the FIR, Yash Dayal filed a petition in the High Court demanding the cancellation of the FIR. In his petition, he has made the state government, the SHO of Indirapuram police station and the victim a party. This interim order of the High Court is considered to be a big relief for Yash Dayal, while the legal process of the case is still going on.
